Yobe APC Aspirants Unite Against Alleged Endorsement Crisis

A crisis has erupted within the Yobe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as gubernatorial aspirants collectively rejected an alleged illegal endorsement of a consensus candidate. The aspirants issued a strong communiqué following a crucial meeting held in Abuja, demanding the immediate removal of the Yobe State APC chairman due to accusations of partisanship and compromise.

They asserted that the so-called consensus candidate was not established in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, deeming it unacceptable. The group emphasized the need for genuine consensus agreements and called for free, fair, transparent, and credible direct primaries as outlined in APC guidelines.

Despite the internal strife, the aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to the national leadership of the APC and pledged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election mandate in 2027. The communiqué was signed and issued in Abuja on May 7, 2026, signaling a unified front among aspirants against perceived manipulation by the state party machinery.
