Biase LGA Chair Empowers Over 100 Indigenes with Tools

Edodi Eyong, the Chairman of Biase Local Government Area in Cross River State, initiated a business empowerment scheme that provided equipment to over 100 indigenes across the 11 wards of the LGA. The beneficiaries received items such as deep freezers, generators, sewing machines, clippers, and hair dryers as part of the program aimed at reducing unemployment and enhancing self-reliance.

During the flag-off ceremony at the council secretariat, Eyong emphasized the initiative's goal to equip youths, women, and vulnerable persons with tools to start and grow small businesses. He assured that the distribution was equitable across all wards and stressed the importance of using the items responsibly, with monitoring teams to oversee their use.

Governor Bassey Otu, represented by Commissioner for Youth Development Ijom Ukam, praised the initiative as timely and impactful. Community leaders, including Paramount Ruler Onun Nicholas Odum and Federal Commissioner Alex Ukam, commended the program and encouraged other council chairmen to replicate it.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting the positive impact on their businesses.
