Cross River State Enhances Maritime Security with Military

On a recent visit to Calabar, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State expressed his administration's commitment to strengthening maritime security in collaboration with the military. He welcomed Brigadier General Matthias Ibawa Amatso, the commandant of the Amphibious Training School, alongside senior officials, emphasizing the importance of the institute in enhancing security in the state's extensive riverine and maritime terrain.

Governor Otu highlighted the historical presence of military institutions in Calabar and their role in deterring criminal activities in the region's waterways. He noted that maritime security remains a pressing challenge for the state, affecting economic growth and the protection of strategic infrastructure.

The governor assured the military of his administration's full support and urged the command to expand training capabilities to produce highly skilled personnel capable of addressing emerging security threats. Brigadier General Amatso explained that the visit aimed to formally introduce himself to the state's chief executive following his recent assumption of office.
