Governor Otu Promises Support After Calabar Explosion

He assured victims of immediate government intervention, stating that several individuals were receiving treatment in hospitals due to the incident. Otu emphasized the need for stricter safety measures to prevent future occurrences, noting that the explosion affected residential areas.

Victim Rosa Asuquo recounted her distressing experience during the fire outbreak, highlighting the lack of response from fire services despite her urgent calls for help. The governor announced that the state would provide free medical treatment for victims and consider compensation for those who suffered losses, aiming to help residents return to normalcy as quickly as possible.
