APC Apologizes for Inviting Supreme Court Justice to Event

The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly apologized for mistakenly including the names of a Supreme Court Justice and several Vice Chancellors in an invitation to a party event. The error was acknowledged in a statement signed by the party's Public Secretary, Emmanuel Edem Inyang, who described the incident as an oversight and requested the public to disregard the original invitation.

The event in question was a pre-congress stakeholders meeting held on February 16 at the Calabar International Convention Centre. The names erroneously included were Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, Prof.

Offiong Effanga Offiong, Prof. Francisca Bassey, and Prof.

Patrick Asuquo, along with the late Major General Edward Ushi. The inclusion of these names triggered widespread criticism, raising questions about the impartiality of the judiciary and the role of Vice Chancellors in electoral matters.

The APC confirmed the removal of the names from the list and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting peaceful and transparent ward congresses in the state.
