Cross River State to Revive School Sports, Plans to Host Niger Delta Games

Lawrence Itanya, Chairman of the Cross River State Sport Commission, revealed plans to restore school sports in Cross River State. Emphasizing the importance of grassroots sports development, Itanya highlighted the need to nurture talent from a young age.

The state aims to host the next edition of the Niger Delta Games and has already enlisted 282 athletes for the event. Itanya warned against neglecting school sports, citing the potential frustration and waste of talent among the youth.

The initiative seeks to implement a phased approach to revamp school sports structures and create opportunities for young athletes to excel.
