Cross River Launches MTN CHAMPS Season 4 in Calabar

The Cross River State government officially commenced the fourth season of the MTN CHAMPS on March 5, 2026, at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar. The event was declared open by Hon.

Peter Agb Odei, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, who highlighted the significance of youth sports development and commended MTN Nigeria for its continued investment in grassroots athletics. He noted that the MTN CHAMPS plays a critical role in identifying and nurturing young sports talent while promoting healthy competition among students.

The championship provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities and pursue athletic opportunities. The first leg of the championship will take place in Calabar, followed by an event in Ibadan.

Onyiny Ikenna Emeka, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, reiterated the company's commitment to youth development in sports. The competition features various track and field events and is expected to create an energetic atmosphere as schools from across the state and neighboring regions compete from March 5 to March 7, 2026.
