CSCS Reduces Fees to Boost Capital Market Participation
The Central Securities Clearing System Plc (CSCS), Nigeria's premier capital market infrastructure, has revised its pricing framework to enhance market participation. The changes aim to reduce transaction friction, encourage greater retail investor participation, and support innovation and liquidity in the Nigerian capital market.
Key revisions include a 50% reduction in lien fees for retail investors, decreasing from 0.25% to 0.125%. Additionally, nominal transfer fees for qualifying transfers between immediate family members have been eliminated, and broker code creation and renewal fees have been removed.
Furthermore, eligibility fees payable by brokers across the exchanges serviced by CSCS have also been eliminated. These adjustments reflect CSCS's commitment to improving market accessibility and fostering a more efficient and inclusive capital market ecosystem.
Mr. Shehu Yahaya Shantali, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of CSCS Plc, commented on the review, emphasizing the goal of lowering participation costs for investors and market operators.
