CSOs Urge Review of Katsina Peace Agreements Amid Violence

The Katsina Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) has expressed deep concern regarding the resurgence of insecurity in Katsina State, calling for an urgent review of existing peace agreements with armed groups. Following a recent wave of deadly attacks, including incidents in Farun Bala, Dandum, and Jikamshi, the coalition condemned the violence that resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.

They highlighted that these attacks represent a significant setback to the fragile peace previously established through dialogue. The CSOs emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of the peace agreements to strengthen mechanisms that prevent further violence, particularly as communities prepare for the wet farming season, which is crucial for food security.

They acknowledged the efforts of Governor Dikko Umar Radda in combating security challenges but stressed the necessity for immediate and effective security measures. The coalition also called for collaboration among government tiers and urged the National Assembly to prioritize security issues affecting the state.
