Bandits Attack Katsina Community Despite Peace Deal

In Katsina State, bandits breached a peace deal by launching fresh attacks in the Kankara Local Government Area. The first incident occurred around midnight in the Gangaren Mangwarori area, where a resident identified as Malam Surajo was killed, and an elderly woman was abducted.

The following morning, around 6 AM, gunmen invaded the Marabar Gurbi community, abducting several residents, including the second imam of the mosque, Malam Jamilu, during the Subhi Fajr prayer. These attacks have heightened fears among residents, especially given the peace agreement that was reportedly reached with local stakeholders and the armed group operating in the area ahead of the Ramadan period.

The recent violence has prompted calls for stronger security measures to prevent further incidents.
