CSOs Criticize Kano Government's N1.06bn Mass Wedding Plan

Civil Society Organizations in Kano have criticized the state government's decision to allocate N1.06 billion for a mass wedding involving 2,000 couples, arguing that the funds should be redirected to strengthen the primary healthcare system. The CSOs, including Celoha Nigeria, believe that investing in healthcare would have a more significant impact on the lives of women, children, and families in the state.

In contrast, the Hisbah Board, led by Sheikh Mujahideen Aminudeen, is gearing up for the mass wedding by ensuring the health status of selected couples is suitable. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's administration is facing scrutiny over the mass wedding plan.
