N6.5b Scandal: CSOs Allege Intimidation, Kano Govt Blames Ganduje, Aide Refutes Claim

Civil Society Organizations in Kano have alleged intimidation and harassment after calling for the prosecution of officials involved in a recent N6.5 billion scandal. The group, including the League of Civil Society Organisations, claimed that members were coerced into denouncing their statements.

They accused influential individuals of trying to silence their collective voice and weaken their role as watchdogs of democracy. The Kano State government, however, blamed former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for the scandal, with an aide refuting the claims and accusing the government of using Ganduje's name to cover up their misdeeds.

The government maintained that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's administration is focused on governance, financial prudence, and transparency, with zero tolerance for corruption. The allegations and counter-claims highlight a growing political controversy in Kano State.
