CSOs to Host Summit on Border Security in Abuja

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Nigeria are set to convene a stakeholder summit on border security scheduled for May 28 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja. The summit will address critical issues such as transborder crime, terrorism, arms trafficking, human trafficking, and smuggling, which pose significant threats to Nigeria's security and economic development.

The event aims to promote robust inter-agency collaboration and share best practices to enhance border security and sustainable development. Comrade Emmanuel Johnni, Director General of the National Council of Civil Society Organizations (NACCSO), and Comrade Martin Igw, President of the West African Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA), are among the key figures involved.

The summit will feature a keynote address and panel discussions, emphasizing the importance of effective border management and community engagement. The CSOs commend the proactive leadership of the Minister of Defence, General CG Musa (rtd), and express full support for military efforts, particularly following recent airstrikes targeting Boko Haram in Borno State.
