Nigeria's Culture Ministry Plans for 2026 AACT Event

The Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, under the leadership of Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa, is actively pursuing opportunities to utilize the 2026 Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) as a platform to enhance Nigeria's tourism assets and cultural heritage. During a courtesy visit in Abuja on Tuesday, the ministry presented a proposal to the Local Organizing Committee for AACT 2026, seeking collaboration to host a cultural night that would showcase Nigerian art, music, fashion, and cuisine.

The ministry aims to engage African diplomats, government officials, and international media in this initiative. Musawa welcomed the proposal, emphasizing the alignment with the ministry's mandate to promote culture and tourism, which can drive economic growth.

She noted that the event, scheduled for November 2-7, 2026, would broaden Nigeria's tourism narrative beyond Lagos and Abuja, presenting a significant opportunity for local communities to benefit from the championship, which is sanctioned by the Royal Ancient Golf Club St. Andrew and expected to attract delegations from 30 African nations.
