Nigeria Customs Service Selects 3,852 from 573,680 Applicants

The Nigeria Customs Service released the final list of successful candidates for its 2024/2025 recruitment on Tuesday, selecting 3,852 candidates from a total of 573,680 applicants. Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi announced the results during a press briefing in Abuja, noting that this recruitment exercise had one of the highest competition levels in the service's history, with only 0.67 percent of applicants being successful.

The selected candidates were distributed across three entry cadres: 1,275 for the Superintendent Cadre, 367 for the Inspectorate Cadre, and 2,210 for the Customs Assistant Cadre. The recruitment process, which began in December 2024, was extended to August 2026 due to the unprecedented number of applications and the need for a transparent selection process.

Adeniyi expressed apologies for the extended timeline, attributing delays to the volume of applications, administrative challenges, and the retirement of senior officers during the period. Successful candidates will now proceed to the next steps in their recruitment.
