Nigeria Customs Service Generates N2.52bn in Revenue

The Nigeria Customs Service's Kwara Area Command reported a revenue generation of N2.52 billion over the past two months, as disclosed by Mr. Najeem Ogundeyi during a media briefing in Ilorin, the state capital.

This announcement highlighted the command's significant achievements in robust anti-smuggling operations across its jurisdiction. Mr.

Ogundeyi made it clear that the command will not tolerate smuggling activities, which he described as economic sabotage driven by individuals seeking illicit profits. He reiterated the command's unwavering commitment to enforcing anti-smuggling laws and maintaining a resolute stance against illegal trade.

Despite warnings, criminal elements continue to engage in smuggling prohibited items into the country. Furthermore, Ogundeyi emphasized the federal government's ban on the importation of foreign parboiled rice, a strategic measure aimed at promoting local rice production, empowering local farmers, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening national food security.
