Nigeria Customs Service Smashes Revenue Records, Collects ₦7.28tn in 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adeniyi announced a significant achievement in 2025, generating a record revenue of ₦7.28tn, exceeding the approved annual target of ₦6.5tn by 10%. This milestone represents a 19% increase from the previous year's collection of ₦6.1tn in 2024.

Adeniyi attributed this success to structural operational changes and enhanced stakeholder engagement. The agency's revenue performance showcased a positive variance of ₦697bn, demonstrating the impact of reforms and technological advancements in revenue collection.

Adeniyi emphasized the importance of balancing revenue generation with trade facilitation responsibilities, particularly in the context of global trade agreements. The Nigeria Customs Service has been instrumental in trade facilitation, revenue collection, border security, and combating smuggling activities.
