Ogun Customs Seizes N2.46bn in Contraband Goods

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Ogun I Area Command intercepted contraband goods valued at N2.46 billion in duty paid value from August to September 2026. During a press briefing at the Command headquarters in Idiroko, Acting Area Comptroller Mr. Olukayode Afeni announced the seizures, which included 1,204 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 3,893 parcels of Cannabis Indica (1.878 tonnes), 428 pieces of pneumatic tyres, 8,675 litres of PMS in kegs, and 24 bales of second-hand clothing.

Afeni stated that the Command aims to make Ogun border corridors "hostile" for smugglers and drug traffickers, highlighting the importance of protecting local industries and national security. He noted that the Command generated significant revenue for the Federation Account while maintaining a focus on legitimate trade facilitation.

A notable seizure included a 2026 Range Rover sport valued at N417 million. The Acting Comptroller also mentioned collaboration with various agencies, including the NDLEA, to combat cross-border crimes effectively.
