Nigeria Customs Service seizes N417m Range Rover, drugs

The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service reported the seizure of contraband with a total Duty Paid Value of N2.469bn between August and September. This includes a 2026 Range Rover Sport Autobiography P530 valued at N417.01m and 3,893 parcels of cannabis sativa weighing 1.878 tonnes.

Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Afeni announced these seizures during a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Idiroko, Ogun State. Other items seized included 1,204 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 428 pneumatic tyres, 8,675 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, 24 bales of second-hand clothing, four sacks of used shoes, and 500 litres of diesel.

Afeni emphasized the command's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for border economic sabotage and stated that the cannabis parcels would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation. He also highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration and community engagement in enhancing border security.
