Customs Seizes N1bn Cocaine at Lagos Border

On February 10, 2026, the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted approximately 25 kilograms of cocaine valued at N1 billion at the Lagos border. The illicit drugs were concealed in 22 packages within a Toyota Highlander vehicle.

The interception was confirmed by Bashir Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of Customs, who stated that the vehicle was intercepted in the early hours along the Badagry-Seme axis. Timi Bomodi, the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, represented the agency during this operation.

The suspects have already been taken into custody, and efforts to arrest additional gang members have commenced. This operation is a direct result of actionable intelligence received and acted upon swiftly by the Seme area command under the leadership of Comptroller Wale Adenuga.

The cocaine was meant to be conveyed in the Toyota Highlander, and the suspects were formally handed over to N. Abubakar Liman Wali of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency's Lagos Strategic Command.

This operation aligns with the enforcement of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2024, which strengthens the existing memorandum of understanding between the two agencies.
