Customs Seizes N1bn Cocaine at Badagry-Seme Border

On February 10, 2026, at 3:00 AM, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) intercepted 22 packages of suspected cocaine valued at N1 billion along the Badagry-Seme border corridor. This operation, which followed a midnight raid, involved the discovery of illicit substances concealed in a modified Toyota Highlander vehicle.

The NCS's Seme Area Command conducted the operation based on intelligence-led strategies, resulting in the arrest of suspects connected to the seizure. Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi represented the agency during the handover ceremony, emphasizing the NCS's commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's borders.

The operation was commended by officials from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), highlighting the critical collaboration between agencies to combat cross-border drug trafficking. The NCS has recently implemented new standard operating procedures for courier companies to enhance regulatory compliance and strengthen border security while facilitating legitimate trade.
