Nigeria Customs Service Enhances Trade Routes with Niger for Economic Growth

The Nigeria Customs Service has reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering trade facilitation with Niger by ensuring faster and safer transit routes. Following a bilateral meeting between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Republic Customs Administration in Abuja, discussions focused on enhancing the movement of transit goods between the two countries.

The Customs Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi and his counterpart Muhammadu Yaqouba emphasized the need to improve intelligence sharing, address security challenges, and reduce delays along major transit corridors. Measures such as the provision of safe corridors for truck convoys carrying transit goods were approved to expedite cargo clearance within 48 hours.

The collaboration aims to streamline documentation, eliminate bottlenecks, and reduce logistics costs along key transit routes linking ports, airports, and neighboring countries. Both customs administrations are committed to promoting legitimate trade, enhancing security, and fostering economic growth in the region.
