Nigerian Customs Seizes N769m Worth of Diverted Containers in Kano, Jigawa

The Nigerian Customs Service seized 20 containers valued at N769 million in Kano and Jigawa, uncovering serious violations of the Customs Act. The seized items included vitrified tiles, diesel engines, polyester materials, clothing, lace fabrics, Zamzam bottled water, medical consumables, and more.

One individual, Abdulrahman Sani Adam, was convicted by the Federal High Court in Kano and sentenced to three years in prison or a fine of N3 million. The Customs Service is enhancing enforcement efforts through the deployment of an electronic cargo tracking system to address smuggling challenges.
