Dafinone Commits to Urhobo Interests in Gas Park Controversy

Senator Ede Dafinone, representing the Delta Central Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the economic interests of the Urhobo people amid the controversy surrounding the proposed Industrial Gas Park in Sanubi-Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State. In a statement released on Sunday, Dafinone, who serves as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, declared his opposition to any actions that could deprive the Urhobo nation of economic benefits from the project.

He highlighted the importance of addressing genuine concerns related to land acquisition and ownership disputes without misrepresenting them as opposition to the project. Dafinone emphasized that any decisions regarding the park's location must consider the economic interests of the Urhobo people and involve proper consultations.

He plans to continue engaging with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, federal authorities, and community leaders to resolve outstanding issues, viewing the Industrial Gas Park as a significant opportunity for investment and employment in the region.
