Dangote Cement Plans 20% Emissions Cut by 2030

Dangote Cement Plc has unveiled a sustainability roadmap targeting a 20% reduction in carbon emissions and an increase in production capacity to 80 million tonnes per annum by 2030. This announcement was made during the company's 17th annual general meeting in Lagos, presented by Chairman Emmanuel Ikazoboh.

The company aims to align industrial growth with environmental sustainability across Africa. As part of its decarbonization agenda, Dangote Cement plans to reduce net carbon dioxide emissions intensity by 20% by 2024 and transition to cleaner transport methods, including compressed natural gas and electric trucks by 2026.

The company also plans to strengthen its position as Africa's leading cement exporter and create 625 direct green jobs. Additionally, Dangote Cement reported a 6.5% reduction in carbon emissions intensity from its 2021 baseline and aims to launch the Dangote Tree Forest Program to afforest 200 hectares of land over the next five years.
