Dangote Exceeds 57 Million Barrels in Jet Fuel Exports

Dangote Group's refinery has surpassed 57 million barrels in jet fuel exports, with significant fluctuations in monthly shipments from April 2024 to April 2026. Initial exports began at a low level in early 2024, starting at 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) and rising sharply to 160,000 bpd by April 2026.

The data from energy intelligence platform Kpler indicates that Africa received the largest share of these exports, approximately 23 million barrels, while Europe received about 17 million barrels, and America accounted for roughly 11 million barrels. The refinery's operations have positioned it as a key supplier in the international aviation fuel market, with domestic jet fuel demand in Nigeria standing at just 13,000 bpd.

Despite this, Dangote's exports reached around 100,000 bpd in March 2025. The company has also faced challenges, including threats from Nigerian airlines regarding high jet fuel prices, as it does not subsidize aviation fuel, unlike petrol and diesel.
