Dangote Refinery Halts Naira Sales of Petrol from September

Dangote Refinery has announced the suspension of naira sales of petrol effective September 28, 2025, due to the facility selling petroleum products beyond approved naira crude allocation. The decision impacts the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and follows a government policy introduced in October 2024 to conserve foreign exchange and stabilize pump prices.

Customers who have made payments in naira without receiving supplies are advised to apply for refunds. The refinery had temporarily suspended naira sales earlier but resumed in phased arrangements.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited had halted the scheme to 2030, leading to this decision by Dangote Refinery.
