Dangote Refinery Halts Naira Petrol Sales, Price Impact Expected

Dangote Petroleum Refinery Petrochemicals has announced the suspension of petrol sales in Naira starting September 28, 2025. The decision is due to the exhaustion of the allocation for petrol sales in Naira, impacting the company's ability to sustain the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the local currency.

Customers are advised to request refunds for ongoing transactions. The refinery aims to reduce the strain on the US dollar and ensure price stability for petroleum products.

The suspension is temporary until the supply situation is resolved. This move may lead to potential price increases for petrol in Nigeria.
