Sanwo-Olu: Dangote Refinery Showcases Africa's Potential

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remarked that the Dangote Refinery serves as a testament to Africa's capability to execute significant projects. During the Lagos-New York 2026 Learning Journey at the refinery in Lekki, he noted its production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, asserting that it demonstrates Africa's ability to operate on a global scale.

Sanwo-Olu reflected on the transformation of the Lekki corridor, stating that the area was once open water and required vision and funding to develop. He acknowledged Aliko Dangote for his commitment to Lagos and thanked the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Forum of Young Global Leaders, the Africa Center, and Afreximbank for their roles in the initiative.

The governor emphasized the challenges Lagos faces, including infrastructure and energy needs, and stated that his administration aims to facilitate a smoother path for future investors. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in the Lekki corridor, including the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the upcoming airport, as part of efforts to create an integrated investment environment.
