Dangote Refinery Faces Backlash Over 'Dirty' Petrol Import

Dangote Refinery faces criticism over allegedly importing 'dirty' petrol from the UK, breaching Nigeria's legal sulphur limit. Documents suggest a shipment of petrol with 690 ppm sulphur, far exceeding the country's approved 50 ppm limit under the Clean Fuels policy.

The refinery's FCC unit, responsible for converting heavy crude into petrol, is reportedly operational. The Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority enforces the 50 ppm limit to reduce vehicle emissions and protect public health.
