Oil Expert Debunks Claims of Dangote Refinery Importing Substandard Fuel

Oil expert Kelvin Emmanuel has refuted allegations that Dangote Refinery imported high-sulphur petrol into Nigeria, dismissing the reports as unfounded propaganda. The controversy arose following claims that a vessel carrying petrol with high sulphur levels arrived at the refinery's offshore terminal.

Emmanuel clarified that the cargo in question was an intermediate feedstock material used in the refining process, not finished petrol for consumption. He emphasized that Dangote's products meet or exceed Nigeria's 50ppm sulphur benchmark.

The Nigerian regulatory authority, NMDPRA, was faulted for not immediately clarifying the issue and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
