Dangote Increases Fuel and Fertilizer Shipments to Africa

Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, announced that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, situated on the outskirts of Lagos, is ramping up shipments of fuel and urea fertilizer to African markets. The refinery, which has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, has already shipped 17 cargoes of gasoline to various African countries in recent weeks.

This move comes as countries seek alternative supply sources due to global energy commodity disruptions, particularly following military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which have led to rising crude oil prices. The refinery is expected to produce three million metric tons of urea annually, with a strategic pivot to redirect shipments from the United States and South America to African buyers.

This expansion aims to stabilize supply chains in the region and mitigate inflationary pressures on fuel-dependent economies. Analysts note that increasing urea supply within Africa will help moderate fertilizer prices during critical planting seasons.
