Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu on Insecurity Issues

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu's comments regarding the increasing insecurity in parts of the country. Atiku's statement, issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Frank Shaibu, described Tinubu's remarks as an attempt to dismiss the grief of victims' families for political gain.

He emphasized that the current administration has failed in its fundamental duty to protect lives and property, citing an estimated 10,000 Nigerians killed by May 2023, with the figure exceeding 18,000 within two years. Atiku condemned the government's silence on ongoing tragedies, including a recent attack in Ekiti State where gunmen invaded a church, killing a pastor and abducting worshippers.

He warned that the decline in public confidence in the administration is a direct result of its performance, not political opposition. Atiku urged the government to move beyond rhetoric and urgently overhaul its security strategy.
