Atiku Criticizes Tinubu Over Nigeria's Security Crisis

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress and former Vice President, accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of inadequately addressing Nigeria's deteriorating security situation following the death of retired Major General Abubakar Rabe. Rabe, who dedicated his life to serving Nigeria, was reportedly abducted alongside his wife on May 30, 2026, in Katsina State.

His death has been described by Atiku as a tragic reminder of the country's worsening security challenges, highlighting the federal government's failure to respond effectively to banditry and terrorism. The incident coincided with a terrorist attack in Chibok, Borno State, where a school facility was reportedly set ablaze, reopening painful memories of the 2014 abduction of 270 schoolgirls.

Atiku also expressed concern over the abduction of 90 schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo State on May 15, emphasizing that such attacks represent a direct threat to Nigeria's future and expose the weaknesses in the country's security architecture.
