Education Crucial in Combating Terrorism, Says Defence Minister

On June 7, 2026, General Christoph Gwabin Musa, the Defence Minister of Nigeria, reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to defeating terrorism and violent extremism by expanding access to quality education in underserved communities. Speaking at the inauguration of the Kaduna Christian Academy in Ungwan Sundai, Chikun Local Government Area, he described education as a critical military asset in the fight against asymmetric warfare.

Musa highlighted that adversaries rely on radicalized narratives, and countering these through education is essential. He urged the community to take ownership of the academy, which was built in partnership with the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nest Global Resources.

The academy aims to serve as a sanctuary for students, promoting values of citizenship and tolerance. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Barr.

Jame Kanyip, who welcomed the initiative and assured continued collaboration between the state government and security agencies.
