Defence Minister Advocates for Security Collaboration

During the #AriseNewsTownhall event in Abuja, General Christoph Musa (rtd), the Defence Minister of Nigeria, urged for enhanced collaboration between security agencies and community leaders to effectively combat insurgency. He highlighted the need for a unified approach to address the challenges posed by insurgents, emphasizing that traditional rulers and community leaders should work closely with security officials to promptly report any unusual movements or new individuals in their areas.

General Musa pointed out that the nature of modern warfare, including asymmetric and guerrilla tactics, requires a different strategy compared to conventional military engagements. He also stressed the importance of good governance among elected officials to foster a sense of belonging and loyalty among the populace, which he believes is crucial for ensuring the protection of citizens' rights and security.
