Defence Ministry and NLNG Enhance Security for Energy Assets

The Ministry of Defence, led by General Christoph Musa (rtd), hosted a meeting with the management of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) in Abuja to address security challenges affecting the energy sector. The discussions focused on protecting NLNG operations and enhancing maritime security within the Gulf of Guinea, which is vital for Nigeria's economic stability.

General Musa disclosed that the federal government has established a dedicated maritime task force aimed at strengthening security operations in the Gulf of Guinea to protect the maritime energy corridor. This initiative is part of a broader effort to secure offshore installations and shipping routes against criminal activities.

Ley Falad, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NLNG, emphasized the importance of protecting energy infrastructure to sustain production capacity and support Nigeria's economy. He also noted that NLNG is expanding its operational capacity by 35 percent through ongoing training and projects, while commending the Nigerian Navy's role in securing maritime operations.
