Nigeria's Defence Minister Matawalle Visits Czech Republic

H.E. Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, undertook a 3-day official working visit to the Czech Republic to bolster defence industrial cooperation.

He led a delegation that included senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). During the visit, Matawalle attended the Czech Air Force Day/Air Show and Defence Exhibition in Ostrava, showcasing modern defence equipment.

He held a strategic bilateral meeting with the Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, focusing on enhancing collaboration between Nigeria and the Czech Republic. Matawalle emphasized the need for a partnership to establish an ammunition production line in Nigeria and discussed the Transfer of Technology (ToT) in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and military hardware.

The Czech Minister of Defence expressed readiness to support Nigeria in enhancing DICON’s production capabilities. Matawalle is also scheduled to tour several Defence and Security industrial complexes in the Czech Republic.
