Delta State Approves 13th-Month Salary for Workers

The Delta State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the institutionalization of a 13th-month salary for civil servants. This decision was disclosed by the governor's chief press secretary, Festus Ahon, following a council meeting.

The approval aims to enhance worker welfare and will be backed by legislation once a bill is transmitted to the Delta State House of Assembly. Additionally, the council expressed concerns regarding a shortage of teachers in public secondary schools, particularly in science subjects.

The Ministry of Secondary Education has been directed to prepare a memo indicating the number of teachers required for recruitment. The council also approved the procurement of equipment for a technical college in Oghareki, emphasizing the administration's commitment to revitalizing technical education.

Other matters related to health and transport sectors were also discussed during the meeting.
