Delta State Approves N34bn for Police Headquarters

The Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the construction of modern divisional police headquarters across 25 local government areas at a cost of N34 billion. This initiative aims to bolster security in the state and is part of a broader strategy to address the need for state police, as highlighted by the current administration.

State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, announced this decision following a meeting of the State Executive Council. The council also approved the establishment of a Special Police Protection Unit (SPU) to further enhance security measures.

Despite Delta State being ranked as one of the safest states in Nigeria, the government believes there is a need to improve security further. The approval includes directives for the immediate commencement of necessary processes to ensure timely execution of these projects, which are also intended to improve the livelihoods of citizens and boost socio-economic development across the state.
