Delta State Government Denies Existence of 'Raping Festival'

The Delta State Government has responded to a viral video alleging the existence of a "raping festival" in Ozoro, stating that no such festival occurs. Ossai Ovi, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, emphasized that the claims are unfounded.

Bright Edaf, the spokesperson for the state, expressed disgust and embarrassment over the video, which depicted several young men being sexually assaulted during the alleged festival on March 19. The community reportedly holds this event annually, where women are said to publicly molest men.

Edaf confirmed that the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, has been ordered to investigate the incidents shown in the video. He assured that those involved in the assaults would be brought to justice, highlighting that no custom or tradition supersedes the rights of citizens.
