Delta State Forms Panel to Investigate Deputy Director's Death

The Delta State Government has formed an eight-member Administrative Panel of Inquiry to investigate the death of Adeda Ekwevugbe, a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, who reportedly died under unclear circumstances at his workplace. This incident has raised significant concerns among civil servants and organized labor, prompting the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Delta State to declare an indefinite strike while demanding a thorough investigation.

The government confirmed the death and stated that the police have initiated an investigation. Following consultations with organized labor, the panel was established to complement the police inquiry.

The panel will be chaired by Mrs. Charity Ehimen, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, and includes members from various government and labor organizations. The panel has been given two weeks to complete its investigation and submit findings to ensure the government addresses all related issues appropriately.
