Suspected Cultist Arrested for Shooting in Delta State

On July 2, 2026, in Jesse, Delta State, a suspected cultist allegedly shot a colleague who had decided to renounce his membership in cultism. The Delta State Police Command's spokesperson, Bright Edafe, reported that the suspect, who had been on the police watch list for cult-related activities, was arrested on July 21, 2026.

This arrest followed a complaint from the victim, who claimed he was shot by the suspect after an argument ensued regarding his decision to leave the Eiye Confraternity. The suspect was reportedly unhappy with the victim's choice and attempted to coerce him back into the cult.

Upon arrest, police recovered three locally made pistols and one locally made single-barrel gun from the suspect. The suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.

Edafe advised the public, especially the youth, to avoid all forms of cult-related activities.
