Delta Police Arrest Two Suspected Cultists in Ibusa

On June 19, 2026, the Delta State Police Command's anti-cultism unit arrested two suspected cultists identified as Okonkwo Prosper, 26, and Aniofu Emmanuel, 25, in Ibusa, located in the Oshimili North Local Government Area. The operation, which took place around 23:45 hours, was conducted based on credible intelligence.

During the search, police recovered an English pump-action gun loaded with five live cartridges, a cutlass, charm substances, and suspected illicit drugs. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are alleged members of a cult group linked to several cult-related clashes in the Ibusa area.

The suspects are currently in custody, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal group. Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command's commitment to fighting cultism and violent crime across the state, warning individuals involved in cult-related activities to renounce their actions or face the full weight of the law.
