Dangote Fertiliser Demand Surges Amid US-Iran Conflict

The demand for Dangote fertiliser has surged amid disruptions in global fertiliser supply chains due to the US-Iran conflict, as reported by Bloomberg. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries, stated that the conflict has significantly affected the international market, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for fertiliser exports.

Dangote's fertiliser facility, Africa's largest granulated urea plant, has an annual capacity of three million tonnes. The company aims to become the world's largest urea exporter within four years, addressing Africa's current import of six million metric tonnes of fertiliser annually.

Aliko Dangote announced plans to expand the fertiliser plant with a $2.5 billion investment to increase production capacity and reduce reliance on imports. Over the next two years, Dangote Industries plans to export nearly 16,000 tonnes of fertiliser, generating approximately $7 million in daily revenue for the Nigerian government.
