Dangote Fertilizer Sees Demand Surge Amid Iran Conflict

Dangote Fertilizer is witnessing a significant increase in global demand amid disruptions in fertilizer supply linked to the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Ltd, disclosed that the conflict has heightened supply chain risks, prompting global buyers to seek alternative sources of fertilizer.

This situation directly benefits Dangote Fertilizer, as buyers are increasingly turning to its Lagos-based facility, which is Africa's largest producer of granular urea and ammonia. The facility has an annual production capacity of 3 million tons.

The conflict, which escalated after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iranian targets on February 28, 2026, has created immediate pressure on global commodity supply chains. Additionally, Dangote Fertilizer has entered a strategic agreement with Thyssenkrupp UHD Fertil Technologies in December 2025 to license UFT fluid bed granulation technology for four new urea granulation units in Nigeria, enhancing its production capabilities.
