Labour Party Urges Nigerians to Uphold Democratic Faith

On Friday, the Labour Party, represented by Ken Asogwa, issued a message in Abuja urging Nigerians not to lose hope in the country's democratic future despite ongoing economic and security challenges. Asogwa congratulated Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora, calling for a renewed commitment to democratic ideals.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by pro-democracy activists that facilitated the return to civilian rule and recognized the unmet expectations and setbacks in Nigeria's democratic journey. Asogwa encouraged citizens to resist hopelessness, emphasizing that the journey of democracy in Nigeria is marked by unfulfilled aspirations and missed opportunities.

He urged the government to intensify efforts to address pressing issues such as insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, hunger, and infrastructure deficits. Asogwa reiterated that, despite its imperfections, democracy remains the best form of governance known to mankind and is essential for the welfare of ordinary citizens.
