Governor Sani Releases Inmates, Promotes Skill Training

On Democracy Day, June 12, Governor Sani of Kaduna State announced the release of inmates as part of a constitutional prerogative exercise, following recommendations from the Kaduna State Advisory Council. This initiative aims to demonstrate compassion and promote rehabilitation, reducing congestion in correctional facilities.

Governor Sani highlighted the significance of June 12 in Nigeria's history, referencing the 1993 presidential election and honoring figures such as Chief MKO Abiola, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Dr. Beko Ransom Kuti, and Hajiya Kudirat Abiola, as well as President Bola Tinubu for their contributions to democracy. The governor urged beneficiaries of the release to embrace lawful living and announced cash grants for 97 individuals, alongside skill acquisition opportunities at the Kaduna State Skill Acquisition Vocational Institute.

He called for support from traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community groups to ensure successful reintegration of released inmates, emphasizing the need for collective societal support in rehabilitation efforts.
