Tinubu Declares Nigeria's Resolve Against Terrorism

During a Democracy Day celebration held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to combating terrorism and banditry. He stated that the nation will not yield to criminal intimidation, emphasizing the government's focus on protecting lives and ensuring the safe release of captives.

George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, conveyed Tinubu's message, highlighting the economic difficulties faced by citizens and the government's efforts to alleviate these challenges. Akume acknowledged Nigeria's 27 years of uninterrupted democracy since 1999, attributing this to the sacrifices made by pro-democracy activists.

He urged Nigerians to reject violence and hate speech as the country approaches the 2027 general elections, warning youth against being misled by thuggery and misinformation. The event included dignitaries such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Speaker of the House Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
