Denmark Permits Foreign Workers to Bring Family Members

The Danish government has confirmed that foreign nationals holding a residence and work permit in Denmark are entitled to bring certain family members to live with them. This policy, outlined by the Danish immigration authority, applies to individuals already residing in Denmark for work or those relocating there.

Family members eligible for residence permits can apply at the same time as the primary permit holder, referred to as the "sponsor." The authority has specified categories of family members who qualify for this permit. In extraordinary circumstances, relatives outside the standard categories may still be considered for a residence permit, although this is not routine.

Additionally, separate guidance exists for family members of individuals holding a Danish green card. The Danish immigration authority advises that accompanying family members should submit their applications as early as possible, especially if the sponsor is applying for their own permit concurrently, to streamline the process.
